Is Flow 2 safe for drinking water?

Edited

Short Answer

Yes. Flow 2 is designed to produce microbiologically safe water suitable for everyday drinking and hygiene use across the entire property.
However, Flow 2 does not remove dissolved salts (TDS), hardness, nitrates, arsenic, fluoride, or other dissolved ions. Suitability always depends on your source water quality.

What Flow 2 Removes

Flow 2 combines four core stages:

  • Pre-filtration (sediment removal)

  • Ultrafiltration membrane (bacteria and microorganisms)

  • Activated carbon (chlorine, VOCs, taste and odour compounds)

  • UV sterilisation (final microbial safeguard)

It is engineered to remove:

  • Bacteria (including E. coli and coliforms)

  • Protozoa (such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium)

  • Suspended solids and turbidity

  • Microplastics (>0.01 µm)

  • Chlorine and odour-causing compounds

  • Select organic contaminants

For many municipal, well, and surface water sources, this level of treatment is sufficient for safe daily consumption.

What Flow 2 Does Not Remove

Flow 2 does not remove:

  • Dissolved salts (TDS)

  • Hardness (calcium and magnesium)

  • Nitrates

  • Arsenic

  • Fluoride

  • Dissolved heavy metals

  • Dissolved iron or manganese

If your water source contains elevated levels of these, additional treatment such as reverse osmosis or softening may be required.

Is It Safe in Indonesia?

In many parts of Indonesia and other tropical regions, the primary concern is bacterial contamination rather than dissolved salts.

Flow 2 is engineered specifically to address:

  • Microbiological risks

  • Surface water contamination

  • Intermittent municipal quality issues

If you are unsure about your local water quality, we recommend a lab test before installation.

Does It Meet Drinking Standards?

Flow 2 uses certified components (SGS, LFGB, CE, FDA, TÜV) and is engineered to meet everyday hygiene and consumption expectations when properly installed and maintained.

Actual performance depends on:

  • Source water characteristics

  • Correct installation

  • Ongoing maintenance

When Should I Test My Water?

We recommend testing if:

  • Your property uses well or borehole water

  • You suspect high salinity

  • You have visible staining or unusual taste

  • You are unsure of municipal supply consistency

You can send us your lab report and we will advise whether Flow 2 alone is sufficient.

Important Clarification

Flow 2 is a whole-property ultra-filtration system.
It is not a desalination system and does not reduce total dissolved solids.
If your goal is TDS reduction, RO may be required in addition to Flow 2.
